The discrepancy model in relation to the special education is the federal government’s provision for the funding of special education as well as the rules that govern the same. The basis for the determination of a student as requiring special education is the fact that the child needs to be classified as having a serious problem in their reading. The gauging of the seriousness of the reading problem needs to force the school into devoting additional resource to satisfy the reading needs of the child.
